How to Apply for Food Stamps in CA
Once you have received an application either by mail, fax, in person, phone or online from their official website, you will then need to complete the application and return to your local FS office. Complete as much of the application as you can. Once you have turned in your benefit app, the local welfare office will schedule and setup a local interview with you.
When you have supplied the necessary information as requested by the local welfare office and once they have verified you for FS benefits, you will start receiving food stamps or other cash benefits within 30 days later. If you currently receive General Assistance GA, General Relief GR or CalWorks, you may be automatically eligible.
