An allergen is just about any substance that causes you to have an allergic response. There are different names that people may attach to their symptoms, such as pet or animal dander allergies, mold allergies and other indoor allergy names, but in general it may come down to breathing certain substances that cause you to have a reaction, whether it affects other people or not. Reducing, capturing or alleviating these allergens may help control your symptoms. You may want to discuss your condition with your doctor to better know which specific substance you are most sensitive to, and to get their advice.
