This great land consists of five distinct Alaskan regions: Southwest, Inside Passage, Southcentral, Interior and Far North.
Southwest Region
Few places on earth compare with the wonders of Southwest Alaska. Brown bears trek along the hills and plains, and more than 240 bird species inhabit Alaska’s Southwest region. The region’s terrain ranges from a landscape of volcanoes in Katmai National Park, to the windswept Aleutian Islands.
Southcentral Region
It is home to over half of Alaska’s population, and is a playground of activities from world-class fishing, hiking and wildlife viewing. Southcentral offers the advantages of remote wilderness, with beautiful lakes and mountains. Great fishing abounds, catch rainbow trout and salmon.

Inside Passage
It was shaped by the staggering force of massive glaciers millions of years ago, Alaska’s Inside Passage boasts beautiful fjords and awesome island scenery. It has wonderful habitat for bald eagles, sea lions, porpoises and whales. Its mountains are carpeted with majestic forests. Inside Passage Alaska is home to the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian Indians and their history is reflected in the many totem poles.
Interior Region
In Alaska’s heartland, you will Mt. McKinley, and wide expanses of lush tundra. The forests are abundant with wildlife and bird life ranging from the formidable grizzly to large herds of caribou. Experience summer’s midnight sun or the winter’s northern lights. Wildlife can be seen on the road that runs by Denali National Park, which carry visitors to and from Anchorage and Fairbanks. Interior is the original home of Alaska’s Athabascan Indians.
Far North Region
Alaska’s Arctic is home to the Inupiat Eskimos, many still live a subsistence lifestyle and preserve their history verbally from generation to generation. The Far North is filled with a rich history and natural wonders, from the gold rush days of yesteryear to the Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve. A truly magical place.
